I have a M&W live pto clutch on my M.i was thinking about takeing it out. What do I need to put back in besides the brake drum?I would like to get everything I need before i start the project.

Pinion carrier
Pinion
Brake drum
Brake linkage
Possible bearings
Brake band
Brake cover W/adjuster bolt on bottom
Platform gasket (probably)
Carrier gasket
Patience.
From memory it is all I can remember.

I did the same thing last winter on my '42 M. I agree with Janicholson regarding parts. The process required some thinking through, especially when it came to removing all the "layers" of the MW PTO.

You will need to buy these three parts to use in addition to the parts you already have.

Pinion gear
brake drum
brake cover

You can use the brake band and linkage that are on the tractor, just remove them from the M&W clutch cover. Once you have removed the clutch, remove the hollow M&W pinion gear from the pinion gear carrier, remove the bearings and reused them on the solid pinion gear that you put back in the pinion gear carrier.

NOTE: You don't have to remove the tranny cover to pull the clutch, it can be done by removing the PTO and going in through the hole. The main thing to remember is that the left axle MUST be pulled out of the left bull gear and the bull gear pulled back away from the pinion gear carrier, only then can the pinion gear and carrier be pulled out of the side of the tractor. If you don't move the bull gear back before trying to pull the pinion gear carrier out, you will break the carrier.

PS I deal in complete M&W clutches and parts, if you want to sell the clutch, let me know [email protected]
