Here are several pictures from Tom-in Iowa's 22-36 he's restoring. Should look better than when new when he has it finished. Hal

As you can see, the sandblasting that was started, is not completed here.
The sandblaster thought he uncovered some of the original gray paint, as can be seen near the top of the frame (on the bull gear cover).

They may not have used primer since that looks like that dark gray paint used on these tractors. Hal

That dark gray is tightly adherent mill scale. It is not primer or topcoat. If that was a professional who did the blasting, he should have done a better job. Seeing that the pre-blasting prep was adequate, he could have gone for a "white metal" finish. Why not take pride in your work and please the customer at the same time? That's not a big job where a lesser blasting specification might be warranted due to costs.

Wardner...the sandblasting was NOT done. The pictures show only the beginning of his work. He invited me to take some pictures as he started the job, but I had to leave before he finished.

Looks great keep the pictures coming as you progress with it.

I hope you don't care about the grass ware your blasting ! The sand kills the grass off , i found this out the hard way.

It takes along time to come back ..

I had a hard time to try and figure out how to post his pictures since they didn't end with jpg.
I copied them to My Pictures and then copied to My Documents. Then it was easy. Hal
PS: Tom may post pictures as he get's into the reassembly and painting.

Hey Hal; thanks for this post. I would not have thunk 'bout using plywood in such a way w/caulk. Wow, I can still learn sumptin'.
