Hi folks my Uncle has a 706 Diesel that is leaking hydraulic oil from under the steering wheel,so what am I looking at ? how big of a P I T A is this to fix? where is a exploded viev available? i dont know a lot about the farmalls thanks

If you want an exploded view go to a case ih dealer web site and they usually have a parts look up you can access. Everything is on there. As for the leak it is probably just the hyd lines for the steering and not to hard to fix.

ok sounds strait foreward,we have a C IH dealer in town and i have to run after some other stuff,i will see if they can show me a parts list I kind of want to have an idea of what im going to need for the job but there aer always surprises

I think its the upper seal on the hand pump, the shaft comes out of it the steering wheel mounts on, go to a CNH dealer & ask for A47038 kit, it used to come with instructions, part number may have changed but very common leak, tubes or fittings unlikely problem. You will have to pull the steer wheel, not difficult process if you are somewhat of a mechanic.

thats what it looks like,I stopped into the dealer and looked at te parts list I think if i can do it without taking the hand pump out it shouldnt be too bad of a job

It is much easier if you do not remove the hand pump from the tractor. Once you remove the steering wheel, dust seal, and snap ring, put the steering wheel back on the splines and turn it. The oil will force the rest of the parts out of the hand pump.
