stuck wide front

Hi, I have a 1940 farmall A and would like to adjust the wide front out some but it seems to be stuck. Infact it is stuck so bad that I can"t even pull it out with my full size 4 wheel drive truck. do any of you have any ideas? Thanks much, Jason

bring it to a welder you trust, add a little heat, then punch through from the other side.

That"s how I got mine un-stuck on a "54 model

It's pretty much given that the front end WILL be stuck when you go to adjust it.

One thing you can do to help the process along is to remove the clamps, and replace the pins with ones that are at least one size too small. Drive the tractor around some place that's a little rough. You might be able to break the front end loose that way.

Heat will be required. The torch needs to be large enough to heat large quantities of metal quickly. That means a rosebud.

Even then I've read about people also needing a "porta-power" to press the front end apart.

IMHO, you definitely want to get the front end apart, clean it up, and grease the sliding parts so it will go back together easily.

Or, you could just heat it up and beat it into the position you want.
