Regular Farmall Float

We are in the process of getting Grandpas old Regular out and running again. The old cork float was in bad shape so we got a new one. I am wondering where to set the float height at? The owners manual tells how to set the carb adjustments but nothing about the float setting...Thanks

The float should be 7/16 to 29/64 inch below the rim on the model R carb. Easiest done with the bowl removed and upside down. you can then put something through the bottom (top upside down) to hold the float arm and then push on the screw to bend the arm to adjust. I got an old screwdriver i bent to fit in and clear the float. A strait tool just won't quite work. Hope you got a brass replacement, I don't much care for the cork ones. Good luck

440, Adjust as 36F30 said. The new gas eats the coating on the cork floats it will work but will not last long. Aldersen tractor part make new Brass floats for replacement. This is best for long term. oldiron29

Thanks for your help guys, I did go with a cork float but I have dipped it in gas tank sealer. We did a cork float for a Hart Parr and an Avery with this same sealer almost 10 years ago and haven't had any problems. We run 10% ethanol out of the pump in everything. Thanks again!
