One more MD split problem

OK, I've got the frame rail bolts out and the two long bolts out on top of the bell housing. Seems to be hanging up around the starter area, near the large dowel pin. Do I need to remove the dowel before she'll come apart? Is there a bolt behind the starter" didn't think there was on M's or MD's
Answers appreciated.

Dowels can be tight, if the heads are not beat up to bad I always remove them first. Coarse thread 5/8 nut screws on them. Will force them out or they start spinning. If dowel starts spinning they can usualy be pulled or pried out by vice grips on the nut or pry bars behind nut.
Also use long bolts or studs in two frame rail holes to keep things in line until clutch plate clears trans drive shaft. No mounting bolt behind starter.

There STILL isn't a bolt behind the starter. You didn't believe us the first time???

Why must you keep stuff inline until it clears the clutch. (The reason I ask is we never do when we split the "4430")

You don't have to use the long bolts. Less chance of bending the clutch plate when used in my opinion.
I use long bolts with no head and a small wrench size added to the ends for ease in turning. Also if using stands that bolt to the frame rails to support rear engine when splitting. Long bolts let you put some bolts back in the frame rails to engine back plate after moving apart a couple of inches when splitting. Helps support engine without all weight being on the engine mounting bolts in front on diesel or side gas.. Realy need them on a diesel if supported by stand on frame rails. Darn good idea on a gas.
