adding a auxilar. hyd pump to a IH 574

The loader on my IH 574 works very slowly I'm not sure if this is normal or not but it is about to drive me crazy waiting on it all the time. It is plumbed with a plate coming off the remote valve up to the loader valve and back into a fitting down by the axle. Is this the best way to plump for the loader. The 3-point, ps. and brakes seem fine but the loader is very slow. It seems to have good lifting power but just slow. If this is normal then does anyone know if a second pump just for the loader can be added, if so how?

Sounds like the proper way...the later tractors (i.e. 95 series) had a higher GPM pump standard, your pump might be worn. The higher GPM pump might fit, but someone who has actually done the swap might know.

Hi, first check the hydraulic filter to make sure it is not clogged. To check the out put of the pump would require a flow rater test. Output of the 574 should be 12 GPM and split by MCV into 3 GPM PS and PB and 9 GPM for 3pt and remotes. If MCV splitter is not working properly possibly to much flow is going to PS and PB.
As 495man stated later models like 3230 have 17 GPM pump.

That is just a power beyond hook up so you can still use your SCV out the back. Yes there is a pump you can put on the right hand side. It will need the casting to go on in place of the plate you see on the right hand side setting in the seat.
It will cost you about $2,000.00 to buy the pump casting and all other necessary parts.
And yes they are slow. Have dealt with that since 1972. There is supposedly a bigger pump for a replacement on the back of the MCV that is some more GPM dad put it in when his went bad. Laughed as the dealer told him to be careful he didn"t damage anything as it would be so fast. Still laughing about that. It was only about a gallon per minute or so.
