wrong sleeves in arebuild kit?

I ordered a rebuild kit for a super AV (1951). It has a standard 113 engine. I am not so confident that the sleeves are the correct sleeves. When I insert them into the block, they do not touch the block on the inner part where the wet seal should be made. The sleeves taper too much to touch. In other words, I was expecting a cylinder shaped sleeve that would touch the O-ring that would be inserted into the block to form the wet seal?

I know my terminology is terrible. Did this make any sense?

Get an accurate measurement of the diameter of the bore where the O-ring sits. After a certain serial number (and I don't remember what number it is), blocks have a slightly larger I.D. at that O-ring. You will need to communicate that measurement to the your sleeve supplier so that they can get you the right sleeve for your block.

There are two different sizes for the lower part of the sleeves. What is the part number of you block (I think it's somewhere near the oil filter and will be six digits then R something). Sam

You may the have 354898R1 block used in some of the Super A's and Super C's. The sleeve diameter at the seal was 3.3125" on the A's, B's & C's and were 6.875" long. I think some of the Super A's used the same sleeves. The later Super A's and Super C's used sleeves that measured 3.4375" at the seal and were 7.060" long. You need to measure your old sleeve diameter at the seal and the length. Hal
PS: You still should be able use an overbore kit
to boost the cid to 123. If you have the Super C block you can boost that to 133cid with 3.250" sleeve/piston kit.

I do indeed have the 354898 R1 block. I guess I"ll have to get some more sleves. Ar ehte connecting rods, etc. all the same?

You can put the 3.250" sleeve kit in that engine. You can install a water pump if it doesn't have one. Be sure to clean that block area thoroughly where the old seals were installed. Once you're ready to install your new sleeves coat the lip of the sleeves with dish detergent so they slide into the new seals easily. Make sure you have your crankshaft measured for wear at your local auto machine shop. They will determine if it needs to be ground undersize. Have the machine shop to furnish the correct bearings. Hal

I called yesterdays tractors where I purchased the kit and they tell me that the only sleeves that meet this size spec are for the 123 engine. Does anyone know what the heck I can do to get the correct sleeves, pistons, etc. for this engine? They are telling me I would need different pistons, etc. Basically, they want to sell me the 123 Engine kit now.

Hal, I really need some help. Can you email me a phone number so I can ask you some questions. You can email me at:

I am baffled what to do. YDT tells me they dont have a 113 kit in the required specs.
