How to identify IH antique and value

Hi all,

Someone I know has an old IH tractor they want to sell but I have no idea what it's worth or what model/year it is.

It's white/cream with light yellow trim. I know the seat they have on it isn't original and I think the gauge with the hours (which ready 3,799) possibly isn't original either but I might be wrong.

The front wheels are wide and offset (I can get pictures if need be, just didn't have my phone in my pocket when I was there). The serial number I could read on the plate after wiping off some oil is 226342 J.

Could anyone give me any info on it?

thanks!

Sounds like it may be a Cub Lo-Boy. A wild guess on the price would anywhere from $1,000 up to maybe $4,000? It all depends on condition and what accessories it may have.

Try to CAREFULLY wipe off the entire ID plate. The model number or name just might be there. Otherwise a picture would be real helpful.

It does in fact look like the picture of the 63-75 Cub on that site.

Not having much of a clue about this other than the guy telling me it runs good what else might I need to know to get some ballpark of a price?

the big things that can influence its value (besides runs good/no smoking) are
how good the tires are,
does it have fast hitch or just a drawbar,
any accessories like a belly mower or snowplow, etc,
wheel weights or not

totally off topic, a friend mentioned last night that a high point (or maybe low point?) of my machinery collecting was the time i came home with a corn binder with the tree roots growing around the frame. remember that one?? lol

Boy, dat one one there is probably worth a million dollars, like one of them "rare" john deere B's you see on fleabay..

LOL! Hey Bill! How are you? How's the old corn binder doing?? You know we've finally gotten some other things cleaned out around here. I had been posting about the 594 rake we have but have to get back to that to try to sell it since it appears to be in ok shape. The other one in the weeds is I think too far gone as two of the bars are gone (probably became a parts rake).

I'll have a look at the tractor tomorrow and see what I can tell from it and snap some pictures for the nice folks here to look at. Does have a belly mower or plow but I know at one point they were putting a sickle bar on the back. The left front tires needs to be replaced... holds air fine and all, just basically bald. The rear ones have good tread but are starting to show some slight cracking from what I recall.

michelle, i found an old wood decked ensilage cutter in about the same condition. it would have been the complementing machine to your binder in the silo filling process. i have the 2 machines together as sort of farm yard art.
