Replacing glass on gauges

Has anyone had any success doing this? I have a cub with a nice, working original ammeter but the glass is cracked. The chrome retaining ring looks like it might be pressed around a lip on the gauge case. I can try to pry it up and see if I can get it off without trashing it, replace with a new one, or just put it back on and ignore the crack. Making the old one look new would be my first choice.

HIYA THERE DAVE!!! Check this link out................http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27247&start=0

I happened to read this earlier, and saw where you were wanting to do the same. Let us all know if it works out for ya!

some flashlites have the same size. I have some old guages that dont work if you need one. The back can be peeled loose to remove the old one.

I did the same on the ammeter for my Super A. It worked well and is still going 10 years later. I believe a local glass place cut the new piece for me. Alternatively anyone who makes stained glass could probably set you up. Good luck, Sam

You can pry that bezel off using progressively larger flat screwdivers. Then post the exact diameter of the lens. Someone on here has one for sure.
