[b:4dcb90042e]This has prolly been talked about before, Ive been searching and can only find info about H's. Im assuming M's are the same but I wanna make sure.

I gotta remove the lift all pump from my M since Ive got a nice little leak. How do I go about doing this? (sorry im a newbie) I know the Lift All Assembly just slides down outta the housing, but If anybody has pictures of everything Id appreciate it. Just so I know what to expect when I get around to fixing it.

figures it starts leaking when the weather is in the 20's and snowy.

thanks in advace... Robby[/b:4dcb90042e]

Getting the pump out is simple but really needs to people as it is quite heavy. You have to take off the outside fittings and the handle. There will be a cover between the pump and the transmission - when you remove it you will see the coupling that drives the pump. Remove that and all thats left is the 4 bolts that hold the pump in place. I've found a hydraulic floor jack works well to raise and lower the pump. Use a second person to steady it. Concerning oil leaks there is a seal on the shaft and a gasket on the 2 halves and thats about it for places to leak.

[b:17c224b51e]ok I thought thats all that was involved in it from what I read about the H's. I apprectiate your info! Im guessing get new seals from NAPA?[/b:17c224b51e]

The coupler can be removed on the H but on the M the coupler is shorter and must be removed as the pump is lowered.

Turn the pump drive shaft until on of the slots is vertical and then lower the pump. When the coupler is clear of the shaft it can be removed.

to add to charlies post, you need to turn the drive coupling so one half of it points vertical. its basically a real thick flat washer with two raised areas, like a cross. also when in there replace the seal on the drive dog that comes out of the trans. check the trans input shaft seal too, if its leaking, change it now. when you separate the pump from the resevoir, you can slide a small bar to lock the pump gears to spin off the pump drive to change the seal. when putting the pump back on the resevoir, be sure to get the little fork hooked up to the bracket that actuates the pump from the control rod. if you get it hooked, the control rod wont work and you will need to drop the belly pump again.

A floor jack and a helper works good. I've got a jack with a removeable saddle, bolted a short angle brkt. to each side of a plate bolted through the jack. Then a piece of ready rod through the angle brkts. and that 8 or 10" hole on the bottom of the pump. Might need a small block of wood to shim the pump level. Works good if ya can'nt find a helper.

Another trick is to put the jack up to the pump and leave the fill pipe on with the cap take the 4 bolts out on the bottom and let the jack down till the cap just about touches then take the cap off and put a rod down the pipe and let the jack down and you can do it all alone because the rod will hold the pump from tipping. I had to drop my pump by myself. I just used some dowl rod and two nuts with ratchet wrenches to lower it down. Took about 15 minutes, but it's handy if you're working alone.

Not with everything installed, but in this picture, the coupler is on the right with the two washers on each end. They have a cotter key going through the washers, to hold the coupler in place.
