I think Scott has it.
I worked a JDA one day and then next day the same thing you have.
Found a big block of ice in the trans.

The solution is to get the differential and trans warm (heat lamps and or electric heaters Kerosine is also good) then drain the two plugs just enough to let all water out. It is filled with Hytran, so don't drive it around or it will mix and be a milky mess. Jim

I hope you are not standing next to it when starting. Always push the clutch down to start as they turn over easier when it doesn"t have to turn the gears in that stiff grease. You have water frozen in the rear end.

"don't drive it around or it will mix and be a milky mess"

You don't suppose it already is?

What I think is that enough of the water is separated out to freeze solid. That can be drained. It should all be drained and heated to drive off the water, or replaced But that is another day. Jim

I've had over 250 gal of hyd fluid sitting for more then a year and has yet to seperate. It is still the milky mess it was when I drained it out of the trucks.

Heating it safely and without flame or ignition temperature is the only way when it becomes homogenized. A controlled temperature electric roaster (set to 200 degrees) and outside for safety would do batches at a time. Do this with supervision at all times, (disclaimer: supervise it 100%) Jim

They have a word for that, but I can't remember it.

And to the OP, I think it is Jesus' becuase it is possesive.

The water may not separate, but there is a limit to how much water that Hytran can hold in suspension.

I've personally had two tractors with froze-up transmissions. One was delivered that way.
