Stupid question #9

No it is just geometry lifting and turning the tire and rim allows it to clear the edge of the wheel casting. (holding your mouth right also helps as does the strength to keep it airborne long enough to get it off. Jim

J. N. gave a good answer about holding the mouth right. Sometimes you don't think they will come off and then you can hit it lucky and pull one right over the wheel. There's the saying about no question is stupid. Don't think my wife heard the saying though, when I ask her something sometimes.

Thanks Guys for not making this dumb Okie feel that way. Jim, I tried it like you said, held my mouth in several different positions but didn't have the strength to keep the tractor airborne long enough to remove the wheel. Thought I had it for a minute there then I had to put the tractor back down. My wife came out and suggested I use the jack for the tractor so I could use both hands on the wheel. Worked like a charm. Just kidding, of course. Thanks pals, for all the good advise y'all have given me the past couple of years. Happy New Year!!! Dan

I have never been able to do it. I usually get fed up and quit. I justify it by saying I needed to inspect the bearings anyhow.

lol, I'm with you on that. I was removing the tires to prepare for painting. It appeared the only way to do it was to remove the hubs. Good thing because the bearings do need packing. I'm anxious to see if I can get them back on with the hubs still on. Dan
