The belt pulley seal is leaking on my S/M Farmall do I need to drain the lube or will much come out on removal and replace. Also do you drain it at the pulley housing? Thanks as always.

There is only grear lube in the part of the housing near the pully. the main part over the tranny is lubed from the tranny oil.

I think there is less than a quart in the pully housing.

This is all from memory, if I am wrong, someone will correct me.

I don't recall for sure, but I don't think there is a drain on the pulley housing. You don't need to remove the pulley housing to replace the shaft seal on the pulley. Remove the bolts that hold the flange behind the pulley mounting flange. The pulley shaft assembly will then pull out. You will need a press to remove the gear and bearings to replace the seal since the seal has to come off the far end of the shaft. There is no gasket on the mounting flange, just shims to adjust the gear lash. Make sure you clean the shims up and put them back like you found them.
