O-Ring Part numbers for 400

Gents,

Having a hard time crossing some IH part numbers for some seals in my Gas 400. Maybe you can help with crossing them or even a "better idea" for seals in these old tractors. These are in hydraulic system...regulator, control valves, flanges etc....

253 070 R1
350 818 R1
350 684 R1
350 667 R1

Those are all old numbers I looked up the new numbers from Case. Only found one cross reference. I think your better off going to Case dealer.

WHY make things so difficult... simply go to the FIAT parts site linked below and look up the current part numbers for the parts you need.

350 667 R1 = 11/16 x 7/8 x 3/32

My 560-660 parts book is the only place I know where the dimensions are given. My 400 book does not provide that info. Perhaps a later edition of TC-55A does. My book was printed 12-57.

If you get an O-ring kit with 40-50 different O-rings you should be able to get reasonably close, if not right on, with an old original used for comparison. You could also go to a good autoparts or hydraulic store to see if they will match you up by trial and error. Try to find a clerk who is not inclined to "cop an attitude". I no longer do business with a hydraulic shop who once told me they were too busy to find my O-rings while they were outside breaking up pallets next to the dumpster.

I took your four numbers and looked for them in other parts books that had the same numbers along with the sizes. In this case they were in either the 806, 1066 or 2444 parts books.

I have hard copy parts manuals for most of the tractors that I work on.

There are parts listings on line but unfortunately they did not include the indexes from the back of the paper manuals so there is no easy way to find where the part is located on the tractor if you only have the number.

The (-) dash number to make it EZ'er to locate,,, a buna-N oring should do it...
I keep a Tisco o-ring kit handy # ORD382, it will have the most common orings.

You can go to http://www.marcorubber.com/sizingchart.htm after you measure the o-ring are the grove to locate the dash (-) #,,, your measurements did make it a piece of cake tho :wink: If anyone finds the time to play its nice to know how to figure out o-ring sizing to save you some bucks,,, why pay $5.00 for a 10 cent o-ring :cry:
