Hi Fellas, Rebuilt engine and rebuilt carb, GOV .My problem is that when I open throttle engine surges. Up to 3/4 throttle will surge once and settle, upon throttle advance, but when going wide open it continues to surge until reducing throttle. Have no Idea where to begin adjusting. Need thoughts PLEASE. t.i.a. Tony

When you did the carb and gov. did you follow the book as to sick the carb to the gov?? If you say no then start there if you did then you need to open up the main jet till you have it working as it should. That is caused by either gov. problems which in this case could be out of sink with the carb or running the carb lean

Tony - Like old suggests problem could be improperly synch'd gov to carb throttle shaft linkage, a bind in the throttle shaft linkage or a lean high speed carb mixture.

Try this: Run the engine up so it's surging. Now VERY SLOWLY pull out the choke knob. If you find a choke setting where the engine settles down and runs smooth, problem's a lean carb setting. However if it continues surge, or begins bogging down the exhaust smokes black, the problem is with the governor linkage.
