wd 9 pulley

I have made up a square tubing attachment in an effort to break this tractor loose. Was wondering does the pulley normally run counter clockwise? Also is there a direct speed with the engine or is it geared?
thanks
George

i am very confident that pulling the head is far more efficient at getting the problem done than relying on something that has no guarantees. once plugs are out look at cyls. with flashlite and if you can see any rust in there, that means its pretty much a tear down.
the pulley is geared to the trans. but not sure what ratio.

build a couple wooden ramps, 2-3 ft long, 8 to 10 inches high. set the back wheels up on the ramps and put the trans in 4th gear. fill the cylinders with your favorite concoction, trans fluid, pd blaster, kroil ect and let er set. if and when it breaks free it will roll down off the ramp. you can also put the starting crank in it and hang some wheel weights off the crank too.

thanks Jim
I was hoping for ccw.

The tractor is in 3 feet of snow in my back yard. For over the winter I put some atf and acetone in the cylinders just to see what happens.

I have been successful in freeing up engines and getting a good worker without opening it up.

so I try that first and will have to open if I fail. The wd9 is a problem to open and repair as most parts are not available. I have acquired two non runners with the hope of getting a good runner from the two.

If you put an adapter on the pulley flange, and it is difficult to weight it from the rear, you could put stress on it pushing up from the front. 200 ft pounds would be OK in my opinion. Jim

use a jackall and put upward pressure on the hand crank.but with stuck pistons , good chance of snapping the crank pin, or bending crank before the pistons move.

Where are you guys finding these stuck tractors with functional hand cranks!?! I have four tractors and three of them have froze up hand cranks.
I really like the idea of using the belt pulley and then just hanging a weight on it for constant pressure. Why would it matter what direction it is supposed to turn? Wouldn't it turn the motor either way?

how can the hand crank be frozen? they are lost most times and not with the tractor. well it is best to know which cyls. are stuck so the piston can be made to go down not up. that is the proper way to do it. all this talk about unseizing an engine and all is good i think is a joke anyhow. the only way it works is when there is light condensation holding the piston and the exhaust pipe Has been covered. if rain has leaked in and stuck the pistons with rust ...forget it. all it takes is a day or two of work and its running. hear of people letting them sit for weeks and months with their mixtures and its still stuck.you need to make the proper decision right off the bat.

Quit wasting your time and pull the head then and only then will you know what youre up against. Theres a reason its still stuck and it wont get fixed by hanging a wt on the belt pulley. I found a nice A down in so Mo last summer stuck. Brought it home and removed spark plugs easy to see very rusted cycl walls. Removed the head and they are realy rusted fast could have soaked for yrs and it would not haave fixes the problem,
