There is a minimum RPM on the fan otherwise the chute will plug up. There is no limit on the high side, apart from destroying the snowblower. Higher speeds require more horsepower and result in a longer throw.

I found on the internet that a 20" fan needs 540 RPM. If hydraulically driven, that will require 4.9 cubic inches at 2000 PSI and adequate GPM. My friend has a motor with slightly more than that. Too slow. We installed a new 2.8" motor that I had and it was quicker but not fast enough.

I am suggesting that we use a larger pump and his motor.
