Tractor hauler

I am in need of a trailer to haul a F 12, an A, and a cub. One at a time. There are several car trailers on Craig's list. I am assuming that a car trailer would be ok to haul a tractor. Am I missing anything? Thanks Craig

Dont think a car trailer would be long enough to haul all 3 at one time. Capacity wise it might be Ok. I haul my M on one, but its a heaveier duty car hauler rated for 14000.

If it's a drop deck trailer (ie. the deck is between the wheels/fenders) make sure your tractors fit between the fenders. A car trailer should be fine with your Cub and A - not certain about the F-12 however.

Also make sure the trailer axle and tires load rating exceeds the combined weight of the trailer and your heaviest tractor.

The question is how wide is your F-12 on the outside of the rear tires. Generally, the limiting factor is the distance between the fenders on the car hauler trail. I had to go to a goose neck trailer in order to haul my Farmall M unless I wanted to turn the wheels around. Also, you need to be concerned about the number of ramps unless your F-12 has a wide front. Most car haulers come with only two.

A car trailer should work just fine for any of those tractors, but get one that is a minimum of 18 feet bed length, and has a solid floor. Also, make sure it has stake pockets or rails to fasten your tie down chains into.

Check out the Minnie Mo tilt trailers from Econoline. I have one and it's great. Eight little 12 inch wheels.

Craig,I use my landscape trailer to haul my F12 on it has the solid tail gate on the back and very low to the ground,Its dual axel, very easy to load and very safe.

I have used a car hauler to bring my A and Bn home. The Bn had a blade and was very heavy. Drove with it behind my explorer for 3 hours and it was great. I also hauled a John Deere B with it and fine. I hauled a f-20 with it 20 miles, but because the wheel wells it could not get in completely on the trailer. Good thing I was on back roads.

A car hauler would be fine. Those are light tractors. You could haul the Cub or the A in a 1-ton truck bed. Seems to me the 12 is a narrower tractor, or can be narrowed right down. Like the cowman says, get one you like. And if you need to you can weld on/have welded on some D-rings for chains. You can't have too many D-rings, in my opinion.

Also if the 12 is on steel, you will want a wood deck. Steel on steel makes for a slickery situation. You could also bolt a couple planks to a steel deck if the price is right.

I bought a 20' tandem low slung trailer, and I can haul everything on it up to and inlcuding the SM (my F-30 pictures show the trailer). The F-20 is a pain, as I have to run it up against the fenders, and put 500'bs of counter weight at the front. I has electric brakes and a 2 5/16 ball, on a class V hitch. 7500 GVW, and the trailer tares at 2000.

I paid $2600 brand new for it. As some point, I will invest in a deck over tri-axle, but for now, this works just fine.

ps. it has a plank deck, and I have adjusted the rear wheels on my H and SM to just fit between the fenders. The F-12 is just right on it and the B fits with the wheels turned in. Cowman said it best, buy the biggest and best you can afford.

Lengthwise I have been very happy with my 18+2ft dove tail trailer, it is like most car haulers and a 7000# trailer, it is too light for tractor hauling. I picked up a 656 Hydro Utility and loader and bent the rear axle and bowed the trailer(picked up the rear of the truck and bowed the trailer)The next one will be a 14000# deck over.

The towing vehicle is important also. The trailer should have brakes on both axles and be rated for more than you plan to load on it. There is a forum on here for hauling with lots of good advice. Good luck, Allan.

You stated "One at a time." I had an electric H & H for a few years; sold it for $75 less that I paid for it, it was wonderful. No ramps so: no rear overhang problems as there are not ramps sticking up in the air that can limit what you may occasionally haul, i.e. tractor w/implement. Row crop tractors load great. Those ramps can be heavy, as my now late 70+ year old dad was finding out. He thought I did good. This fall I purchase a used trailer -twin is what the link shows- at a consignment auction. Bidding was going on as I approached it...I thought I"ve spent this many $$"s more foolishly so...I came out of Iowa with the trailer. It had a hard life in the Hawkeye state and it shows the hard use, but nothing that can"t be fixed. My opinion, if you can find a used one or buy one of these new, you will be really happy. If a rental business has one, I suggest trying it out. That was my first experience with this brand and the tilt bed sold me right away. Good luck w/your search.

It's too light for tractor hauling if you have a 656 and hi-lift. It would be fine, almost overkill, for what the original poster has.
