I am looking for a battery box for my 340 row crop gas. Are there any other model's that will fit. 300 or 540 maby.
 
Michael D; I don"t know about compatibility but you could check the CNH parts web site. Try different model tractors and search the electrical section. This is an old list, but you could try calling salvage yards close to where you live and expand your search.

Just my opinion, but if a tractor is bad enough that it is in a salvage yard the likelihood is that the battery box is long gone from rust. There are folks that make up new ones if you check RP and aftermarket sellers. Don't know if yours is one that is commonly available though.

I apologize for being dense, but Is the battery box located under the seat similar to a Farmall 300 or 350? Or is it located under the hood? Reproduction battery boxes are readily available for the 300 through 450, but I cannot find anything listed as fitting a 340.
 
The 340 seat (even the Farmall) is Utility style, sits pretty close to the transmission. The battery is mounted behind the seat. The box probably isn't the same as many other models.
 
Michael, the gas model only has a cover and a shield support assembly the battery sits on. The diesel model has a battery box which mounts behind the operators seat I believe. I recently got some hood Farmall nameplates for my Farmall 240 off of a 340 row crop that The Steel Wheel Ranch in Everest, Kansas had in salvage. You might give Mike a call on 785-548-7437 but it is probably going to be a hard one to find. I don't think the 340 shares the same battery cover with any other model which makes it very difficult. I am having the same problem trying to find a cover for my 240 which is unlike any other models as well. Hal.
