missing serial number

My Farmall C is missing the serial number tag from under the seat. Is there a way to find out what the number was? The tractor did have shutters on it at one time as the lever is still there, would this be unusual, and be easier to track down? Thank you.

check the engine serial number stamped below the #1 sparkplug.. The number should be close to the tractor serial number if the engine hasn't been changed. The shutters came with distillate engines, but were also available as an option. My Super C had shutters, and did not have distillate. You can also find out the year by finding the casting dates.

Hi Dave,

My tractor is in the shop, having a specialist redo it with two of my Farmalls C's to make one good puller. He found that it needed another engine as the old one was bad on the inside, but I will check that number on the engine stamped below the #1 sparkplug. Thank you.
