This last Sunday I went on a little trip to retrieve two tractors. A 1923 McCormick Deering 15-30 and a 1956 John Deere 60. I payed $600 for the McCormick Deering 15-30 and $1000 for the John Deere 60. It was a fun trip and it was the longest trip for tractors that I have taken, to Stanton Nebraska. We left at about 10 and arrived at 12:30. It was a great weekend to do this as the weather was so nice outside. But we ran into the problem of mud. It took us a few hours to get the tractors loaded but we were able to do it. We first put on the McCormick Deering 15-30 and then the John Deere 60 and chained them down good. It was a very fun adventure that ended with us safely arriving home at about 6. Today we unloaded the tractors. They sure were easier to get off then to get on, but thats all part of the fun of getting new toys.
I cannot wait to get both the tractors running. I think is will be easier to get the John Deere 60 going then the McCormick Deering 15-30, but I am up for the challenge.
Now I have 8 tractors and these two are now my oldest and newest tractors in my collection.

My tractor collection now.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies!

Very cool man! Getting new toys is always the best! Glad you guys had a safe fun trip. I like the John Deere 60. The 15-30 looks like it will be a neat little tractor all fixed up. Any pictures of your C?

Nice finds! Good to see a smart hauler, putting planks under the steel, you would be suprised how many guys drop a tractor on steel thru a trailer.

Great find! How was the Ford pulling both the tractors?? I have a 5 hour trip coming up with a Ford diesel F250 with just one tractor, mostly highways. The tractors both look like they should be good to use oneday. Good luck

I see the clutch cover is gone from the 60. I had a 60 also & the cover wouldn't stay on. I don't know why, the clutch worked fine.

Those green ones sure do hold their paint! Did you find any stuff that belonged to the tractors in the shed?

Don't know anything about that green stuff but that 15-30 was certainly a great tractor in it's time I'm sure. Had a neighbor salvage one out of a stream bed 60-70 years ago along with a saw mill which was washed away during a flood. Dad and I cut logs off the farm to build a barn in early 1950's here on the farm and the lumber was sawed on that saw mill using the salvaged 15-30. Tractor has been used several times since then for other folk's building projects. I'll just bet that using it for tillage or cultivation work for a full day would really build us some arms. Thanks for sharing your find and excitement and hope you have a couple really nice restoration projects, Hal.

Looks like a great find!! They both look in relative good shape. I know the excitement of finding and bringing home a new Red or Green GEM.I just had the experience in Jan 11. What is it about an old tractor that looks so beautiful to us? Keep us posted with pictures and updates. Tony

their needs to be a antique tractor picker show. instead of watching those two dummys by passing all the good tractor stuff we see on their show.

that 15 30 is a great find if it is not locked it is a steal. I believe that 23 was the first year of the gear drive 15/30. I have a 25 that is not locked but it has been changed to rubber. I have lots of steel for the keyed axles but no spares for the spline type early tractors.

enjoy
George
