Carquest filters - Esp gas start diesels

As a lot of you know, I am a big fan of getting things from the dealer. But, my uncle also manages a Carquest so I decided to help him out since I would be near him and get my filters from him.
Well, to start with the oil filter is the wrong one. Their book lists the dinky little gas filter. I needed the big diesel one. Hopefully my H, SMTA, or B can use this other filter so it won't be a huge deal.
THEN, the one of the diesel filters comes with a new oring and the other does not. I don't think the oil filter had one either, but I am not positive. Then the one that had an oring didn't have the correct oring! It was a little taller and a hair bigger than the CNH oring. So I ended up having to go back to the dealer and getting 2 orings for $11.XX.
So much for saving any money, but I guess I still helped my uncles store. Also, most dealers are getting ready to run their spring maintenance specials right now so you can get XX% off on your parts. I know my local dealer does 10% off on any part, stock or special order!

Do not know about tractor filters but Carquest and NAPA automotive filters are made by Wix (at least that is what I have read) and Wix filters are about best filters out there IMHO.

I know NAPA filters are and I swear by the NAPA Gold. You can turn a spin on upside down and see the Wix name in the hole.

we were having trouble with a 1100 Ferguson fuel injection pump when the dealer mechanic noticed the man i worked for was using napa filters he said he had seen several pumps damaged that used napa filters instead of mf or cav asked the parts man at the dealer he was also an oem man, so i talked to the napa parts man who was from a family of mechanic's also one himself,his reply was they didn't know what they were talking about ,then told me wix made napa filters, also had a couple of cut away filter to show the difference of brands my opinion of the samples was wix was as good or better than oem, wix also makes carquest filters, at that time i got fuel delivered that had water in it , stopped up the primary filters on our 2 tractors shutting them off ,the secondaries own both were clean when changed, those were napa or wix used on our tractors ,still use them

Right I should have said NAPA Gold I think NAPA has some other cheaper filters too.

i used to work for a carquest store, their filters and napa's are made by wix, there the best you can buy, never heard of any not having the o rings in them, as to the wrong filter it could be the book is wrong or somebody didnt read carefully, on tractors and big trucks its always best to go by the number on the old filter to get the right new filter

Well, these didn't and it cost an extra $11. :lol: I asked and the dude said there was only one number for an MD in the book. It really isn't practical to get the number off these types of filters, but I know what you mean. As for me, I learned my lesson. Dealer, maybe NAPA if they come with the orings.
