What would be "scrap price" for a Farmall H? The tractor is stuck and in pretty poor condition, but the owner would like someone to fix it up. Just asking for a fair price based on the cost of scrap. But neither of know what that would be.

Thanks,

Dan

Here is WI scrap is $275/ton. The H would way about 2 tons, maybe more BUT they are going to knock you for the tires. I would say $600ish would be more than fair. Don't forget the scrap price is at their yard!

I bought this H at an auction for 400 with a stan hoist loader (not pictured) and sold it later for 600 and kept the loader. It was stuck, needed 2 rear tires, and a few missing parts that had got pulled off it. I'd say between 4-600 depending on tires is fair for a stuck H.

Showing my age here, but I remember when you could go to any farm auction, buy an H or an M Farmall for $500, drive it 20 miles home and then go straight to the field with it. Scrap iron was worth $10 to $20 a ton, and no body was scrapping out farm machinery of any kind.

Last fall I called a local scrap yard and asked them what the price would be for an H, because I was looking at one also. At that time, they said it would be around $400. I ended up buying the tractor for $450.
