Slack in axle, oil on brakes. Have located axle brgs, inner & outer, but not the upper drive gear (pinion) brg.(with retainer groove) nor the four seals.Only seal with a # is 43283D.I sure could use some timken interchange numbers. thanks in advance. Bill

Bill, the Case IH number for the Differential Shaft Pinion Oil Seal is 51494DA. The Case IH number for the Rear Axle Oil Seal is 43283D. The Case IH number for the Differential Shaft Ball Bearing ST239.
That data from the Case IH website interchanged on the NAPA website to...

51494DA is Seal NOS 19876 at NAPA, dimensions are 2"; 2.878"; .703 Price $42.99 each.

43283D is Seal NOS 21134 at NAPA, dimensions are not listed. $16.99 each.

ST239 is bearing BRG 208NRJ at NAPA, dimensions are not listed, price is though, $79.49 each.

Best Regards,
Charlie

Charlie -- Better recheck 51494DA. I don't have the cost of the bearings and seals handy, but I just replaced ALL trans and final drive bearings and seals in my Super A, and no seal cost more than about $15, I have never paid $42.99 for a seal for anything, but I have never bought any from NAPA. Maybe your decimal is out of place.

CNKS, well, now that you mention it that does seem out of line, so I rechecked those numbers, and they are what they are. That is their "online price" and I'm not sure if that even includes shipping. So I make no endorsements, only offer the part numbers for cross reference.
Regards,
Charlie

just a bit of trivia, the pinion bearing for the final drive on the A is the exact same one used for the bearing on the H PTO. How do I know? I actually replaced the pinion and seals on my A, and later I replaced the seals on the PTO on my H. while I had it apart, the bearing looked familiar.

Yup, exact same bearing, including the retainer groove. whooda thunk.

I have a conversion chart for SKF (Chicago Rawhide), which are cheaper from a local bearing/seal place than CaseIH by about 30-50%. The little looking that I have done at NAPA indicates that in most cases they are cheaper, in a few cases about the same. Perhaps that price is an "about the same" price. Just seems completely out of line to me. No offense intended.

Not surprising, whether intentional from IH, I don't know. An advantage for us is that bearings fit several different applications, otherwise I doubt if the companies would still be making them.
