52 CUB coil Replacement

I am changing the original coil with external resistors to a newer coil with internal ones. The external block has a white wire and a red wire. How do I hook up the NEG side, or is it just a ground?

Thanks, Dozinhal

The original coil had no resistor, the tractor was 6v from the factory. The ceramic resistor is now to be removed entirly. The wire from the on off button is now connected to the negative side of the new coil (assumes positive ground of battery and probably a generator) the positive side of the new coil connects directly to the distributor side terminal.
If it has an alternatoe and is negative ground (probable if it is an alternator, check battery polarity) the ignition wire connects to the positive couil terminal and the negative connects to the distributor. Jim
