Steel wheel rescue

ok, a pair of the less common wide F-12 / F-14 rear steel wheels. idiot at the scrap yard who took them off the tractor with an acetylene speed wrench had the flame at an angle and cut into the hub. I rescued the wheels and had the hub built back up with weld. Starting to grind them back into shape, and thought I would share.

Red line shows where the cut was

Tom,I had a late friend that owned a local junk yard and had a huge scrap pile that he started bailing up.In the bottom of this scrap pile was a Farmall Regular that had been buried for probally 20 years. It was about 75% complete and wasnt broke up.He called me and gave it to me.The helper at the yard told me to back my trailer up to it and he would load it,before I could get out of my truck he took a large hoe with a clam shell bucket and broket in several peices,I was lost for words. Some people either dont care or understand.

Lou, thanks for the kind words, but nothing special here. build up the cut area with weld, and grind it down back into shape. on the inside of the hub, I will use a die grinder to get it close, then file it into final fit.

Jimmy, I know. Most of the staff at the scrap yard sees only the name: scrap.
