Propane Carb

Was running. Refueled when empty. Now won't start and carb now sweats or is wet (All over) on the outside. Any Ideas? I usally post under Gene Stevens but I lost my password. This is my old handle. Thanks Gene

Sounds like the valve inside the regulator is passing too much liquid propane and it is going to the carb causing condensation of atmospheric water vapor on outside of carb. Liquid propane in the carb is way too rich and will not ignite.

Does it run just using the vapor valve? If so, let it run on vapor until the engine is warm. The liquid side may work after that.

Chances are that you will have to put a kit in the regulator.

I don't have alot of experience with my W400-LP but I always start with vapor and will only use the liquid should I need it. Seeing as how I have never done any work with my tractor, I have never had the need to run on liquid.

By chance did you over fill it. i have over filed mine and it draws liquid over the vapor tube. and i had to drane some out to git it to draw vapor out to run. Bob

The only propane tractor I ever run was a JD 3010.I was very dissapointed as the Super M would easily out pullit. Are they all that gutless?

NO! They usually are the opposite. There is a MM that pulls with our club it it dominates. I have seen some stock LP burners that are very good tractors.

Well, we had a 3020 and a Farmall 400 on LP and the 400 was a powerhouse, the 3020 was a complete dog. Also had a Super C on LP that was the most used tractor on the farm. Our JD windrower with slant 6 Chrysler and JD 99 cotton picker were both LP and both ran great, as did the 300 6 cyls in our Ford F-100s.

I think that 3010 and 3020 LP are just gutless (and I like JDs).
