My 3 point hitch will not lift anymore...I have changed the filter 1 year ago & have run it just an hour or two trying to get a new carburator adjusted. I also changed all the fluid & replaced it with 6 gallons....a year ago today.... I was going to top it off with another gallon of fluid .That did not fill it to the plug port...so I bought 5 more gallons just to have some on hand & added 1 gallon at a time to fill to the fill port...I used all 5 gallons & never got to the fill port.....buy by count that is 12 gallons & it is still not full & my 3 point hitch will not work....I have no idea what is going on....no fluid on the ground. Could someone point me in the right direction to solve this issue... I have it running to my satifaction ( I think ) ...I can't test it under load without my 3 point hitch to hook up some equipment.

It is only supposed to have 7 gallons of oil in the trans. you probably need to prime the pump to get the oil flowing again, when I had one I needed to change the pump out and to get it primed I loosened the hose fitting on the output line and poured oil in through a port in the top of the filter housing and then kept starting it and letting it run a few seconds each time untill it finally took a prime, be ready to shut the tractor off quickly when it does start pumping because the oil comes fast when it starts. check to make sure your crankcase isnt filling with oil also.

I am at a loss as to where the extra fluid is going. There is none in the oil pan ..in fact it"s looks like I am a quart loe on engine oil.
I did not work the 3 point hitch 10-12 times with fill plug out ...I will try that tomorrow ...if that don"t work I will try priming the pump as you sugest.Another possibality is the fluid filter could have restopped up.( when I replaced the filter is was not even assembled was full of trash...may have had some residual trash in the lines????)

thank you Handyman

update....Your suggestion on priming the pump seems to have worked...I approached it a little differant.I took the plug out as your suggested & filled the cannister (& filter) with fluid but nothing seemed to be happening. I was parked on level gound & have plenty of hills,so I thought I would let gravity have a shot at getting fluid into the pump....must have worked...I got home from today at dusk & started the tractor & the lift worked. I still have solve the fluid level issue.
Thank you for the suggestion
