I"m trying to add a power steering pump to my farmall 300 and don"t know how to take off and put on a new belt. It sets behind the water pump belt. Do I have to remove the water pump to get access or is there some other way I don"t see?

Thanks

If you get the belt loose you should be able to work it over the fan or for that matter I have worked the new belt under th fan belt if you get the fan belt loose. That was on an H and a 450 but not 100% sure on a 300 row drop if it was a 300U I could go out and look to make 100% sure

You can get the belts over the fan with a little work. You have to first loosen the set screw on fan pulley and then loosen the flange on the front side of pulley.Than slip the water pump belt over the loosened flange. You should than be able to slip other belt over fan and under the water pump belt and than replace the water pump belt.

The fan pully was the thing I couldn't figure out. So there must be some flange bolts on the front side of the pulley then? It's a darn hard area to see much of anything there between the fan shroud and the fan blades!

I'll take a peek in there in the morning. Was sure hoping I didn't need to pull the radiator or water pump to do this work!

Thank you!

Larry

The way the fan pulley works is there are 1 or 2 lock type bolts/screws that hold the slip part tight. When you need to tighten the belt you close up the pulley which pushes the belt out more and tightens it up. So you loosen up the lock screw/bolt and turn the outer part of the pulley to loosen up the belt. Warned they can be a bear to get to turn and may take some TLC and a choice word or 2
