H water pump thrust washer

Has anyone replaced the thrust washer on the H pump? Where is it ..on the impeller shaft or the pump housing? I can't see which on mine..too worn. Also; how much 'gap' does a new impeller have in relation to the back of the housing ..where it sits against the engine?

There is no seperate thrush washer on the H water pump impeller. It is machined surface on the impeller and shaft and it rides against the shoulder of the bushing. The impeller blades run close but I don't have a particular distance in my head here. Maybe 1/16th inch or so. Also, the bushings were not a replaceable item through IH all the years I repaired those pumps. You pressed out the whole center section. On an M we replaced bushings seperately.
