Yesterday I posted a question for a guy I work with about the threaded male coupler. I made a mistake and said farmall A. It is for an MTA. Does anyone have or know where to get a threaded male coupler that goes in to the female end on the hydraulic of the tractor. He needs a pair for one of his implements. thanks Marc

Well, the first question to ask is what kind of coupler does he have? It it the old style factory breakaway? or has it Got IH old style (pioneer) or something off the wall like a John Deere Coupler? Part of the problem is that there are many different styles of quick coupler. You may have to buy a male and female in pairs to make sure everything hooks up if somebody can't help you. Pictures of the male end coupling will help alot in identifying what you have / need. Places like Tractor supply company have threaded male and female quick coupling ends to do what you need. Also some good auto parts stores that deal also with farmers, like NAPA, can help you, too. You could go to a Case IH or even (gasp!) John Deere dealer if they're local to you, also. John Deere has "Parts Country" supposedly they can help you with all makes tractor parts, I've never asked for their help. You've got lots of options. (Hopefully!) -Andy

This is the tractor side of the SMTA hydraulic coupling. Your friend may or may not have this style as many of those fittings were replaced with newer couplings. A pair of new old stock implement side of the coupling recently sold on eBay for around $70. The sale also included the special fitting holder which he will need.

If he has to ask you about fittings, he probably doesn't know what he has or what is available. Consequently, you can't help him much until you see the tractor.

If you don't want to get deeply involved, tell him to go to any tractor dealer or tractor supply and buy two sets of male and female couplings.

There is alot to be said for new fittings. They will be easy to operate and won't leak. They will also come with dust caps. If he has the newer fittings and they are in good shape, he only needs the two implement fittings. He should remove one when he goes shopping to assure compatibility.
