Seems like I am doing more side to side scrolling in order to read the posts on yt and other sites. Sometimes the second page postings don't require it though??? What size monitors are you fellers using w/your puter? I read this evening my CRT uses up to 60% more gerbil juice than the LCD's. I might look into refurbished as they come w/warranty. Thanks for your input. Saw some snow in ditch lines Easter Sunday - springs a coming.

oops sorry miss read my monitor is 17'' flat and my setting on screen size is 800x600 , you can go into control panel and play with the setting and see what works best for you

We gave up on pc/monitor a few years ago, and wife and I both have laptops running on wireless. I prefer a 14 or 15 inch screen on a laptop. Posting this now in a recliner. I am really fortunate to have high speed dsl where I live, as I live on 110 acres 4 miles from a town of less than 1000 in rural MO. However before I had dsl, I had wireless on my dial up connection, and shared the connection on 2 laptops in the house at times.

Go to your display properties and change your resolution. 1024x768 would be a minimum by todays web page standards. I'm using 1280x800 on my laptop (widescreen). Higher resolution makes the print smaller though (squeezing more info into the same screen). If you have a CRT monitor and are looking to upgrade to LCD go 19" minimum size. Most places have 19" monitors for less than $120. Widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio will allow more of larger pictures to be visible at once.

Good luck,
CT

Al,
Most websites now use the wide-screen format (like TV) built for LCD screens.

I use an old 22" CRT w/pc sitting beside my recliner/rocker. I use a custom built keyboard/mouse tray across the arms of the recliner and a coffee table on my right side for holding mugs of hot/cold beverages.

You can change to higher resolution but the higher the resolution the smaller the text. You could then go to your page sizer (zoom) and re-size to fit your screen.
You could also purchase a new wide flat-screen monitor and plug it in to your pc. Windows xp and higher will have the software and the software also comes with the new monitor.

Al. Usually that side to side scrolling is a direct result of someone posting a picture that is too large to fit the screen. Scrolling is not necessary on the second page because the picture is only on the first page, not on the second.

Getting a new monitor or changing the resolution on your current monitor isn't going to help.

The answer is for folks who post pictures to learn how to edit the size of the picture, and then to use the "preview" button to find out if the picture fits BEFORE they hit the "submit" button.

I just hold the Ctrl button down and reduce the photo size by using the scroll wheel on the mouse.
