Farmall M Fan noise

I just recently followed previous advice I had requested and tightened my fan belt on my M. Now when I start it. I hear a similar sound that to me sounds like as if the fan blade was rubing the shourd, but that it not the case, just the similar sound. It sounds to me like it is coming from the front, or radiator side, of the fan where the two little spring type device is sticking out there but do not see any signs of what it may be. Any advice you all could share would again be so much appreciated. Thank you.

Sammy, with the M at idle gently pump grease into the two zerks on left side of pump.I have rebuilt pumps on a smta&f400 one screeched and other kept leaking after tighten and aditional packing. Pumped grease when rebuilding however not enough. Needs to be pumped as tractor is idling. Cured my problems for sometime know. Good luck, Tony

what shape is the belt in? sounds to me like a belt squeek.try the belt dressing as mentioned and see if it goes away. the belt was worn in on a spot on pulleys, now it is being squeesed more and is running tighter and has to rewear in. even a soap bar does the trick to quiet it down. you may need a new belt.

Thanks so much for all the advice, but none of it has solved the problem. If any other suggestions I would sure appreciate it. Could the water pump be bad??

Belt is too tight,
re-adjust for a bit more slack, operator's manual states 3/4 to 1 inch of slack measured half way between pulleys is correct adjustment for the water pump, 1/4 inch of slack for the Generator belt.
The inside of the belt is rubbing on the sides of the pulley, makes a god-awful racket.
