756 gas to diesel

I have a 756 w/291 gas, it is worn out. I have a 715 combine with a german diesel, what different/extra parts will I need to put the german diesel in the 756? Thank you.

We looked at this project once and here's what we came up with for a shopping list:
1. Front engine cover.
2. Rear engine cover.
3. Frame rails. (they're 1" shorter on the diesel 756)
4. Radiator. (outlet is on the opposite side)
5. Oil pan. (I don't think the combine oil pan will work on the tractor)
6. Flywheel and ring gear.
7. Clutch and pressure plate.
8. Possibly the oil filter housing.

There's other stuff like linkages, lines, and hoses.

Thanks mkirsch, will I need different sheet medal because of shorter frame rails? And will the german diesel combine exhaust manifold exit hole line up with the tractor sheet medal hole?

I put a german diesel 358 into a 560 farmall and the frame rails need to be longer not shorter, if they were too long that would be no problem at all. The front engine cover can be reused, you just have to make a set of mounts, to bolt the engine to the frame. This is really easy, just a T shaped piece with a couple gussets for strength. Any decent radiator shop can move the lower outlet on the radiator, I think it cost me $40. The oil pan will work just fine on a tricycle tractor and some wide fronts. The stay arm bracket is the only thing that may interfere and it didn't on mine with a schwartz wide front. Oill Filter housing should be fine, it gave me no problems. You will need the rear engine cover, if you want it to be an easy swap, me and a friend machine the rear engine plate from the gas to fit the german diesel but it took a lot of measuring and a bridgeport to get it exact. The flywheel can be bought new for this application and the clutch and pressure plate are easily sourced. For a throttle on mine, I just used a cable, to replace all the linkage and it works great.

Also if the combine manifold is a side exit like the one was on mine then you will need to find a tractor manifold to make it come up through the hood.

there is a 706 with a 310 german diesel parts tractor on Louisville, Ky craig's list. The ad says it is a good engine.

ih560 thanks for the info. Good idea on the throttle cable. I have a good machine shop friend also, I will have to get him in on this. I will print this post for my future project. Thanks again.
