Guide light with bullet light mounted on top.

How rare is the Guide work light with the small bullet light mounted on top? Both have glass lens and the entire light is in excellent condition. What would the approximate value be? Thanks, Del

Those things are weird to me. I have never seen an original in real life, but you see OEM's reproductions all the time. I suppose it is like seeing fenders on a southern tractor, sure they had them but they aren't normal around here.

With that I never gave an answer. You could go to OEM's website and see what they are charging this year for the light. That would be a good ballpark.

I don't think the factory installed those lights for more than a year or maybe two. Even then, it was an option to go in place of the regular work light. So I doubt there were large numbers of them in the first place. Now there are bunches of guys that think they "look cool" so there is a relatively high demand for them to put on a wide range of years of tractors. There are probably more reproductions out there than were installed at the factory, a lot like white demo paint.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. This one looks like the real deal, like I said glass lens not plastic like the re-pros probably are. Has Guide on the large lens and Guide on the light itself. Looks like original switch, spacer and mounting bracket, old original wiring in very good shape. Del

I was at the waukee iowa swap meet last weekend,a vendor there had a nice used one,he was asking $70.00 for it. Jim

I've got one of those on my M, and the H that I grew up on had one also. The small bullet light was also used on Allis-Chalmers, Oliver, and John Deeres. I think it was either Jeeps or Willys that used them as fender mounted parking lights, but used a clear lens instead of the red lens. That red lens is available aftermarket, and yes, it is glass, not plastic.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the repros have the Guide-Made in the USA stamped on them and also Guide and number on the lens as the original does? Del

The repro red lens does not have the logo or numbers. There is a repro headlamp lens that DOES have the correct logo and numbers. I'll need to check my inventory for the headlamp lens. I have 4 of the red lens in inventory.

Yes you are right, the red lens has no markings, only the larger clear lens and the metal casing has "Guide- Made in USA" stamped on it. Del
