hitch weight on fast hitch

Should i be concerned about hitch weight on my fast hitch on my 460 farmall? Do i need to "lock in the fast hitch" as some call it? Lets say i'm hauling a large load of manure, say 200 bushels, is that going to be too much weight on the fast hitch 2 point drawbar? Thanks in advance for any help!

Dad had a big single axle New Idea manure spreader and had no trouble with his F-H 460. I don't think it was 200 bu., but with the single axle it put a pretty good load on the hitch. He also carried [u:0be7cfef1f]heavy[/u:0be7cfef1f] round bales with it, and they put more load on the Fast Hitch than the spreader. Without front weights, they would have lifted the front end off the ground.

As IHfan indicates, the strength of the hitch is not an issue.
Two factors are. One is the strength of the drawbar adapter for the hitch point, and the anti sway mechanism.
The other is front weight.
If the weight is at the limit for the drawbar, it will bend when the spreader or tractor hits uneven ground.
If the sway is not controlled, the hitch banging back and forth will rip up the linkag bars and stops. Jim

We used to pull a 310bu spreader with a 560 and fast hitch... Did it every other day all summer for years without a worry or care.

The tractor did steer pretty well once the spreader was loaded.
