I have an international 1066 that i think broke a piston skirt, the problem is i need to get it to my shop which is about a mile away. It runs but i'd rather not risk driving it that far and causing more damage. can i safely tow it that far or do i need to do something with the torque amplifier. thanks

If your hydraulic systems are working properly, you should still be able to steer the tractor and the brakes should still work, even without the engine running. Unfortunately, most of these tractors aren't in perfect working order so that probably isn't the case.

I'm sure people have done it, just wrapping a chain around it and dragging it home, but it sure won't be any fun.

The best way to move it would be to rig up some way to lift the front of the 1066 with the 3pt hitch of another tractor. That way you've taken the steering and brakes out of the picture.

At the very least, use something SOLID to attach the two tractors. Slip a heavy pipe over the chain, or rig up some sort of "wagon tongue" arrangement. That way the towing tractor can stop the 1066, instead of just letting it crash into the towing tractor.

Thow her in neutral and drager home. Dont run in road gear and you should still be able to steer and brake her. Good Luck,Kenny.
