Old Plow

I had the chance to buy an old trailer plow today. I think it was a little genius #8, but the only number I recall is P012572. Anyway, someone had hacked off the trailing plow arm. Would it still work decent like this? He wanted $80. I'd much rather have a single bottom 3pt or trailer plow that was meant to be a 1 bottom, but there not so easy to find around here lately.
 
Just wait, they are around and you will be much prouder of your PURCHASE. Leave the SALVAGE wear it belongs, the SCRAPE MAN, he has no conshence.
 
It is just a parts plow, but they don't make the parts anymore. If it had a couple good moldboards and points it would be worth it to some. The rear rims are tough to find.

I wouldn't pay that much for a parts machine, but it is your call.
 
John, my "namesake" said it pretty well. $80 is right about scrap price, maybe a tad high, but close. if there are ANY salvagable parts on it, I personnally would buy it. I have purchased a few items over the years simply for parts. do you have room to store it? Do you have patience to find parts for it? Only you can answer those questions. I was able to get a VERY good deal on a 2 bottom #8, but I have also been looking for 3-4 years. Now that I have one, a couple of the ones that I passed up because they were parts condition, I wish I had bought them to complete this one out.

Your call. $80 doesn't seem that much to me if there are good parts on it.
 
Nice, "Dad." :lol: You are not far off from scrap price so you could probably get down to scrap price.

I should say that I try not to pay that much for working plows. I am a soil sampler and scour fencelines for stuff like that. My 3-14 I got for $30 and it is ready to pull the rope and plow. My 3-16 cost $200/ton so it is probably around $100. I actually haven't paid for that one yet. I had some truck problems and didn't end up weighing it. I would guess it weighs around 1000 lbs.
