F-12 PTO packing

ok, getting ready to flush the tranny case on the F-12 and change the gear lube. The PTO is already seeping, so I am sure that when I flush and fill, it will leak even more.

I will be taking the packing nut off to inspect and replace packing if necessary. Anyone know the size of the graphite cord for that? I have a roll of 1/4", but wanted to check to see if anyone knew the size before I get it apart.

Tom, I don't know the size of the felt cord. But ( The Fordson House of Escanaba,Michigan) has the new felt packing for the F-12. Maybe they could tell you what size it is.I have gotten parts for F-20.They were very helpful.

Its been a few years but I wanna say it is 1/4"

I would think a longer length would compensate for narrower cord. Probably 1/4" would do the trick.

I used 1/4" on mine no more than a month ago worked perfect

Thanks guys. Sounds like if I need to replace the packing, the 1/4" graphite cord will be the ticket.........
