W 6 Rear Axle issues

I'm working on a 1951 W 6. Wanted to change the rear axle seals since each side was leaking after I flushed and refilled the rear end. Right side housing came off very easy. Removed the bolts and the axle collar and cast iron bearing cover slid right off. Other side I can't get the thing to budge. The axle collar (the steel one) seems to be wedged on there somehow. I am at a loss as to how to remove it because I'm afraid of breaking the cast bearing cover if I use any force around it. Also, once I got to looking at the seals and O rings that I ordered through my IH dealer, they didn't match at all.

SO - does anyone have the part number that I need for these seals? Apparently Case IH can't find them because it's a McCormick versus Farmall? Doesn't make sense to me either but that's the story I'm getting. And do you have any ideas on how to get that steel collar off the axle?

Thanks in advance for your help.

jaybird,
I went through the same issue last summer on my W6. What I did was pull the pto from the tractor and working through the hole I took the bolt out of the bull gear and slid the entire axle assembly out. Then with a good size rose bud, heated up the steel sleeve. Slid right off.
Most likely, if it's leaking the outer bearings need to be replaced as well. I had to order the felt seal from IH but everything else I ordered from a local bearing supplier. Alot cheaper that way.
