Saved sickel mower

I am finally going back together with the saved from the scrap pile mower. The guys on the implement page have been a big help so far. We have still not figured out what model it is for sure. I got the owners and parts manual for a 2C-F24 and 34-F24 after sending back the ones for the C-24. These are all very close to what I have and many of the parts are similar, but still not 100% matching. The high speed wheel on mine is offset to the side of the pitman wheel. On the others, it is one above the other. My high speed shaft mount has plates on the front and back. The other ones have them on the side. I also do not have the right side rear axle mounting system that fits on the clamp. I do have a bracket that adjusts the up and down for the sickle bar, but I can not figure out how it mounts to the tractor. It is shown in one of the pictures laying on the hydraulic cylinder. I hope the paint police have retired for the night. Painting the whole thing will happen this winter when I have more time. Anything that had to come apart to be rebuilt got sandblasted and painted with what paint I had. I am suppose to be helping mow 190 acres of Boy Scout camp grounds but with no rain and 100 deg. temps I brought myself some time. I just thru the whole tractor picture in because someone always wants to see the tractor on this page. I figure someone on this page has to have one of these mowers mounted on a "C".

Rick, nice to see you saving this one. Still looking for pitman stick and inner shoe? In my area (Texas) Tractor Supply Co. carries the pitman sticks. Inner shoe could be made, probably by looking at another one. I have recently worked on restoring a couple of horse-drawn mowers. "Timing" a mower is an interesting process. Good luck. kelly

Nice clean mower and it is nice to see it getting shined up and show ready. Now if you was planning on using it in the field you might find out why it was on the scrap pile! :)

Don't mind me, I hates pitman mowers.

Not sure the model we had for the Super C, but it was F-H mounted and then had a rod that went up the left side to the Touch Control to raise/lower the end of the bar. The F-H set the "overall height" and the T-C did the rest. T-C would raise the end of the bar about 3' and the inside about 1' It did have a pitman stick.

I guess I failed to mention that I have everything for it. I just put the bar on Sunday so I could take some pictures. The sickle is laying on the shop floor so I can put new sections on it. The implement forum has had some interesting posts on serrated guards and sections. They are under the opinion that you can not have both being serrated. I finally emailed Herschel as that is the brand my local farm store carrys. They answered right back and yes it was fine to put both section and guards on serrated. I am also going with the bolts this time as I am tired of rivets. If I get the operaters manual for the F-28, will it show how the adjustment rod hooks up to the tractor or does someone have a picture of the one I have hooked up? I have 3 other C-24 mowers that I have taken parts off of and I have one of the rods that was mentioned. I just do not see how it can work hooked up to the touch control. This mount that I have looks like it needs to mount to the fast hitch cylinder. It has to work in an up down motion, not back and forth. Thank you for all your help!

I have one like it on one of my F-20s. I believe it was originally for a H or M.
They are in the IH mower parts book near the back. My local Case-IH dealer in central Illinois had the parts book but few parts. Gordon Rice may have parts.
Check with Tractor Supply on-line. That is how I got the "Swath Board" that goes on the outside end of the bar.

Looks like the rod ties into the touch control level rod. Pardon me that I do not know what it is called, but we had one on our 200 and there is place for one on your SC. If you look at the level stabilize pin the vertical bar has a very similar construction to your bar pin. Only problem is that I do not see how it would be mounted. The bar from the touch control to the level adjustment bar from the touch control flops around if not attached. You may have a peace missing that would bolt to the axel housing. Otherwise, the adjustment bar does lay on the axel housing and that may be all that is needed. If you have the bar I am talking about (needed for bottom plows etc.) then give it a try. If not you may need to get you hands on one. Someone else will know what it is called. If you need a pix of the bar, let me know because I have one for the 200 out in the shed. Send me an email and I will send you the pix.

I have a 2 point sickle mower that has the drive directly over the sickle drive. It also has the right axel attachment you mentioned. Do you know the model number for my mower. If so, shoot me an email so I can be looking for parts. Thanks.

I called Binder Books and purchased the parts book and the operators manual for the C-24-P, 2C-F24 and the 34-F24. I would say by looking at these books, you have one of those. The C-24 is the oldest and from what I can tell it has a babbit sleeve bearing on the pitman arm. The other one has a ball bearing. Both have the right side axle mount. I would go over to the implement forum and there is a couple of guys over there that know much more about these than I do.

THAT MOWER WAS SET UP FOR A 300 UTILITY.THE TOP LINK PIECE THAT YOU HAVE RESTING ON YOUR LIFT CYLINDER IS THE CLUE. I HAVE ONLY SEEN 1 OTHER : WE HAD IT FOR 35 YEARS AND IT MOWED A LOT OF ACRES. I DON T REMEMBER THE MODEL #.

P.S. IT IS MOUNTED BACKWARDS ON THE PIVOT ON THE LEFT ARM.
