:?: :?: I have a 450 that has 10 1/2" rims with 15.5x38 tires that are bad. I have a new set of 15.5x38 tires to go on. The rims that are now on the tractor are single bevel rims. I want to put on 14 inch wide rims. Will double bevel rims work without changing the cast centers?

If the wheels have 8 spokes, you should already have double bevel rims. The 6 spoke wheels use drop center rims. The drop center and double bevel rims are not interchangeable. The rims you have are either 10 or 11 inches, not 10.5, unless someone found some oddball rims. The measurement is from the inside of one lip to the inside of the other, not at the edges of the rim.

thanks for the info. after looking closer at the rims I found that they are dropped center.
thanks Howard

(quoted from post at 12:30:12 07/22/11) No, they will not work but you can get 14 inch single bevel rims.

I think you are thinking of the drop center/deep drop rims common to an M. Double bevel rims will just allow more mounting options vs a single bevel, but they are interchangeable.

Double bevel and drop center rims are NOT interchangeable, because the cast centers are different. The drop center rims have a more positive attachment as the clamps fit against a lip on the cast center, the clamps for the double bevel simply clamp on. My guess is that is the reason the cast centers for the double bevel rims have eight spokes instead of six.
