I am in the final stages of restoring my Dad's '46 Farmall M. Dad had always told me that when he came home from WWII that tractors were hard to get because of all the war production and that he got moved to the top of the local list because he was a veteran.
We were at the Pennfield show and talked to an older gentleman who told me that when the farmer GI's came back from the war they were given a "green card" that allowed them to buy a tractor, plow and disc.
I know that Dad had a #8 3 bottom little genius plow and a 10' IH disc and suspect that he may have gotten this same deal. Mom & Dad are both gone now so I really don't have anyone to confirm if that is true or not.
Was just wondering if any of you folks had ever heard that story about the "green card".
I hope someday to drive it to the cemetery and take a picture of it next to Dad's tomb stone on Memorial Day.----God Bless Those That Served
