350 utility gas tank

Does anyone know of a cut-away picture or exploded drawing of a 1957 350 utility gas tank? The one I bought last Fall won't run if there's less than half a tank of gas. Well, it will run but it spits, cuts out, and acts like it's not getting gas. Fill the tank to the brim and it runs fine. Before I start tearing things apart I'd like to know what I'm getting into.

had a simular problem with a car. plugged inline fuel filter was to blame. is the vent hole in the gas cap plugged?

Your tank is dirty. Before doing anything else, drain it and remove the sediment bowl and clean it along with the opening in it. You can shine a light down into the tank and see how bad it is. I have a couple that plug occasionally due to stuff floating around and simply run a wire into the hole the gas goes out of. Might run 5 minutes or 2 days.
