F-14 followed me home from a farm auction

Just got back from East Pallistine, OH. Went to an estate farm auction. Couldn't pass up the F-14. Will post some pics tomorrow, but it is real close to correct, all there, and is loose. Impulse isn't working, but that is a relatively simple fix. I now have completed the F series as far as "getting" them. Now I need to focus on fixing and restoring what I have. Cost me $650, steel rears and cast rubber fronts. Dual fuel manifold is on it, and only has a small crack at the bottom of the exhaust side. Will probably have it brazed. The front and rear cultivators (complete and in good- fair+ condition) went for $60, but I didn't buy them. I already have a set and spent my "play" money on the tractor. No other IH items there.

Met an older gentleman at the auction who said he worked as a hired hand on the farm in the 50's. He said the F-14 was used to cultivate and haul wagons out of the fields. He said the wife of the farmer used to get 3-4 neighbor kids and pay them $1 a day to pick rocks. She drove the F-14 with a wagon on it, and the kids followed behind picking rocks before they planted. Neat story. nice guy.

My dad's first tractor was an F-12, bought for, I think, $400 in 1944. It spent a lot of time cultivating corn. The cultivator was raised manually, with a lever on each side of the operator. Raising took a lot out of Dad. It was and is still on steel, front and rear and is now in a museum.

Starting when I was pre-teen, I played with it a lot unsupervised. While pulling, I would shift from 3rd to 2nd without clutching. Another little experiment was, while driving up a steep hill, holding the clutch in and letting the 12 roll backward, then pop the clutch. The hill had to be steep, or with the steel lugs it would not roll. They provided a lot of traction when the clutch was released and the front end, all ready higher than the rear, would rear-up 1-1/2 or 2 feet off the ground. Do not try this at home.

I am going to clean this old girl up, and get her started......might leave her in her work clothes.......haven't decided yet.

Well, she runs!!!!!!!!!! cleaned out the fuel tank, put new fuel pump on, new plugs, rebuilt mag, and blew out the fuel lines.

didn't even have to pull start it, was able to git 'er to fire and run cranking it. Doesn't smoke to bad, and blew dead mouse carcasses out of the exhaust! Wish I had a video of the dead mice flyin' out the exhaust, and hitting the ground, and they were smoldering! LOL LOL Gotta love it.

I am a happy camper.

ps. Good oil pressure.
