12 volt alternator

Absolutely!

Simply remove the 4 screws that hold the two halves together then carefully rotate the rear (terminal) half to the desired orientation. Finally replace the screws.

Be careful to not pull the rear housing back to far from the stator and unseat the brushes. However if you do, push the brushes fully into the holders then secure them temporarily with a straightened paper clip pushed through the hole in the housing. Once the alternator is reassembled pull the paper clip out to drop the brushes onto the slip rings.

Same answer here just I use a toothpick to hold the brushes. If I forget to take it out theres no chance of welding the brushes when I hook things up. But thats just because I'm gettin old and forgetful!

With all due respect, Bob---he should turn the front section with mounting ears. If the "stator" & windings are loose from the rear section, the 3 leads going to the rectifier bank could get twisted & short. Assuming a Delco 10 SI.

Yes,just to chime in and reiterate, make sure when rotating the back half of the housing to rotate the inner ring with the BACK half of the alternator,NOT the front half where the pully lives.
