I got two new gaskets today for the headlights.Correct part #53527D. But I'll be darned if I can figure out how they are assembled with the gasket. The gasket is like slit tubing with a flap on it. Does the slit portion go over the reflector? Reflector does not want to go in housing then. Flap part in or out? Can someone shed some light on this?
I'll be away from my computer till later tonight. Thanks Mark

Hey Mark,
If nobody else has an answer for you, come on over in the morning and I'll take a headlight apart from my C and we'll figure it out. I think they still have the gaskets on them. It's been years since I changed a lightbulb in them. I'm pretty sure it would be the same light.

The thing is with those headlight seals, some are made poorly and really difficult to get in place. If they are made like they are supposed to be it is really simple. Seems to me I actually got a couple from John Deere that fit nice and the ones from CASEIH were a pain. Might have been other way around or it could be some I got from OEM.

Thanks Andy, May have to do that. When I took mine apart what little was left of the gasket did not look like the new ones. Mark

Mark,

I ran into the same issue when I restored my H. I was trying to apply the new gasket to the headlight retainer ring for about 5 minutes, befor it dawned on me that the gasket is actually applied to the light housing instead. It went back together like a gem after that. I used the factory CNH gaskets and they fit great.

Good luck dude!
