IH 884 and similar models

I'm considering getting an IH utility like a 884Xl or some thing similar with a good factor cab. I know very little about them however. I'm just looking for a smaller tractor to park on a hay rake summer. Do I understand it correctly that you could either get a shuttle shift or TA? Did the XL cab have A/C? Where there any major weaknesses to these tractors? TIA

XL cab was only on 85 series tractors, i.e. 885XL. no 884XL

If you are in North America, IH put a SIMS cab on the 84/85 series until 1987 or so.

A/C was an option on the SIMS cab and standard as far as I know on the XL cab.

885XL had 16F/8R trans including a 2 speed powershift ("T/A") or 8F/8R box with left hand dash mount hyd shuttle (dry clutch tractor either way)

Solid tractors, main thing is the parking brake and service brakes.
