H Oil Pressure

I have 60# to 70# oil pressure in my old H, when sheis warmed up. I stuck 20W-50 in, thinking I had a worn engine, now I"m wondering.
I wonder if there is any danger in this high pressure?
Thnks.

That is normal oil pressure on an H at higher RPM's and they normally hold a lot a low idle also.

Nope. They rub with the gauge pegged from the beginning. I believe they see 80 PSI from the factory. Consider that pressure to be just fine. The pressure is an indication of delivery of oil to bearings that are not blatantly worn. Engine bearings in tractors use the oils lubricity, not the pressure to "float" the components. Oil pressure is more important in a Hydraulic lifter engine to keep the lifters pumped up, but even that is more of a supply issue than pure pressure. Jim

I do not know the pressures, but mine pegs the gauge unless it is warmed up and idling, then it is in the middle.
